Sorting Hat Performs Trick
Each year at Froghearts Sorting Hat helps students select the most appropriate HOUSE. Or perhaps, more accurately, Sorting Hat helps the House select the students. In any case, a major question haunts those students who are obsessed with understanding Sorting Hat. What does Sorting Hat do the rest of the year?

Our investigative reporters learned that the famous chapeau has taken up the art of conjuring and is now entertaining audiences in the USA by divining their selected cards. Initially Sorting Hat is performing as a part of Professor Lang's lecture series; but the spunky hat may branch out to develop its own road show — if it can overcome a major logistical problem.

Sorting Hat is currently limited by the lack of arms, legs or wings, so it has to depend on someone to transport it. Sorting Hat is considering a long-term contract with Hopweg, the flying bunny that delivers Froghearts mail. However there may be some rivalry betwixt the two would-be stars as Hopweg has also started working on a card trick.

Golden Snitches Missing
Froghearts Athletic Director, Smelie Sweats, reported that over 14,000 snitches are missing from the game stables. It is believed that most are still on school grounds; but they move so quickly they are rarely seen, let alone caught. “We know that a few escaped our campus”, says Sweats, “as the Headmaster has spotted some snitches during his lecture tour.” Of course he captures and returns them when he finds them; but the question of how they escaped still mystifies faculty members.

Members of the Allcement House have been interviewed, as their house has a history of foul play; but so far there are no concrete leads.

Successful Lecture Tour
When student enrollment at the Froghearts School began to shrink a few years ago, the Ministry of Magic informed Headmaster Lang that he must increase the number of students or the school would have to close its doors.

So the determined wizard launched a campaign to locate and recruit new students. His major recruiting tool was his lecture tour. Of course, this all had to be accomplished without undo publicity so as to protect the secrecy of the school. So Professor Lang disguised his lecture tour as a magic show. During his lectures, Headmaster Lang demonstrates many of the magical skills taught at our school; but to the uninformed they appear to be clever magic tricks. Many onlookers are invited to assist in these experiments so that Lang can assess their potential as students.

Parents and school officials book the lecture tour believing that they are just hiring an amazing magician. While our mystical headmaster is really assessing the natural magical skills of audience members.

Of course, we would never accept a student unless both the student and their parents request admission to the Froghearts School. And the school is very selective, so some excellent prospects are bypassed for fear that they could not survive the rigorous admission tests.
